This years special program will feature the barbershop quartet, Social Insecurity. The award winning group is well known for their close harmony and comedy routines. Come prepared to laugh and have a good time.
Formed in May of 2009, Social Insecurity immediately won the Oregon Senior Quartet competition, then followed that with a win at the Evergreen District Senior Quartet competition in Whistler, BC. That win qualified them to compete in the International Seniors Quartet contest at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Mid Winter convention in Tampa, Florida in January 2010. They are very proud to have been awarded 4th place bronze medals in this competition.
Lead: Don Kileen, a recent transplant to Oregon from California, with 30 plus years of barbershopping including a gold medal with The Masters of Harmony chorus out of Los Angeles, California. Don and his wife Kathy currently live in Florence, Oregon and are both involved in Barbershop singing. Don and Kathy share 5 children and 5 grand children.
Tenor: Gary Raze, with many years as tenor in the comedy quartet McKenzie Touring Company, is currently also singing tenor with Overtime, 2000 International Seniors Champions. You might recognize Gary from his stint as the crazy guy in the Les Schwabb battery commercials a few years back. Gary and his wife LeAnne live in Veneta, Oregon. They have two children and 3 grandchildren.
Bass: Marty Anderson, singing bass since high school, through 20 years in the Air Force, barbershopping since 1997 and previously singing with After Five, a Barbershop Quartet out of Eugene. Marty is the baby of the group and we had to wait for him to get “old” enough so we could include his great bass voice in our seniors quartet.
Baritone: Bob Martindale has been barbershopping for the last 12 years and was previously the lead singer for the comedy quartet, McKenzie Touring Company. Bob has extensive stage and theatrical experience and got his start in Barbershop while playing the part of the Mayor in The Music Man. Bob and his wife Teresa live in Cottage Grove, Oregon and they share 3 children, ten grand children and one Dachshund puppy.
